Another motive for buying NFT objects is the desire to single-handedly own something of value and be involved to a mass movement. Yes, the Nyan Cat GIF can still be downloaded from the internet. But famous paintings also have thousands of physical and digital copies, although collectors continue to buy them for millions of dollars.
