CryptoPunks are one of the first NFTs launched in 2017 on the Ethereum blockchain. These tokens use the ERC-721 protocol standard. This means that each of them is unique, unique and cannot be replaced by another. Earlier, we have already described in detail how NFTs work and why they are needed.
CryptoPunks are presented as a collection of unique computer-generated portraits of 24x24 pixels (8 bits). In total, 10,000 unique crypto-banks were created, which can no longer be changed or new ones created. Each of them has a unique set of characteristics, including species, gender, facial features, hairstyle, jewelry, accessories (hats, sunglasses, earrings) and more. That being said, some crypto banks are considered more rare than others. Most CryptoPunks are male and female. But there are also 88 zombies, 24 monkeys and 9 aliens - they are more valuable.
Each crypto bank has its own serial number and its own profile page, which lists its attributes, indicates the owner and provides a sales history. Anyone can view the profile, and everyone can save a copy of the crypto bank image. But only one person can officially own the original.
Like other NFTs, the user can buy and sell these punks, or simply keep them in their Ethereum wallet.
